The Complete Guide to Badminton Betting at Mantap88
Badminton and Malaysia are inseparable. We grew up watching Razif Sidek, Jalani Sidek, Cheah Soon Kit, and Yap Kim Hock give everything on court. The current generation has witnessed Lee Chong Wei, and now Lee Zii Jia, carry the nation's name on the world stage. At Mantap88, we bring an entirely new dimension to the way you experience the sport we love.
Badminton betting at Mantap88 goes far beyond picking a winner. With over 25 betting markets available per match, you can wager on all kinds of match aspects — from the overall winner and first set result, to total points in a set, whether the match goes to a third set, and much more. This makes every badminton match far more thrilling when you have something riding on it.
Types of Badminton Bets at Mantap88
Mantap88 offers a wide range of badminton betting markets suited to both beginners and seasoned bettors. Understanding each bet type will help you maximise your experience and your chances.
Moneyline (Match Winner) — The most straightforward and popular bet type. Simply pick the player or team you think will win the overall match. The odds for each side reflect their likelihood of winning as assessed by Mantap88's odds compilers. The favourite will carry lower odds, while the underdog offers higher returns.
Set Handicap – One of the most compelling markets in badminton. Mantap88 gives the underdog a set advantage to level the playing field. For example, if Lee Zii Jia carries a -1.5 set handicap, he needs to win 2-0 for your bet to come through. This makes backing a strong favourite more challenging, but the odds become far more rewarding.
Over/Under Points — Bet on whether the total points in a set or across the entire match will go Over or Under the line set by Mantap88. For example, if the Over/Under line for Set 1 is 38.5, you can wager on whether that set will produce more or fewer than 39 points.
First Set Winner — This is one of the most popular markets for in-play betting, as it gives you the chance to gauge both players' early form before committing to a full-match wager. The first set often sets the tone for the entire match.
Total Sets – Bet on whether the match will be settled in 2 sets (2-0) or go to a deciding third (2-1). Closely contested matches tend to go the distance. Analysing the head-to-head record between the two players can help inform this decision.
In-Play Live Betting – Arguably the most exciting feature at Mantap88. Odds are refreshed every few seconds while a match is in progress, reflecting the live situation on court. If you're watching the live stream and spot a player building momentum, you can jump in at that moment to lock in better odds before the market adjusts.
Malaysian Players Most Followed by Bettors
Malaysia is renowned as a global badminton powerhouse, producing world-class players who are always among the most closely watched names in betting at Mantap88. Getting to know these players in depth will help you make more informed betting decisions.
Lee Zii Jia is Malaysia's foremost men's singles contender in the post-Lee Chong Wei era. His aggressive, attack-minded style backed by a powerful smash makes him a dangerous opponent for anyone on the draw. That said, his consistency can be unpredictable at times, which makes his matches particularly well-suited for handicap betting.
Aaron Chia / Soh Wooi Yik is a men's doubles pair who have shown remarkable growth and are now among the most feared partnerships on the international circuit. They regularly pull off upsets against the world's top pairs, making their underdog odds consistently attractive.
Pearly Tan / Thinaah Muralitharan are a women's doubles pair on a rapid rise. Their fighting spirit on court consistently produces tight, edge-of-your-seat matches — exactly the kind that suit Over/Under and third-set betting markets.
Chan Peng Soon / Peck Yen Wei representing Malaysia in the highly competitive mixed doubles category. They have proven themselves capable of going up against Asia's top pairs, making their matches a compelling choice for team event betting such as the Sudirman Cup and Thomas/Uber Cup.
Smart Badminton Betting Tips
Check the head-to-head record between two players before placing your bet — some players have a notably strong or poor track record against specific opponents.
Factor in fatigue — a player who came through a gruelling match the day before may not be at full sharpness in their next outing.
For in-play betting, watch at least the first 4–5 points of each set before placing a bet — this gives you an early read on each player's momentum.
Doubles badminton tends to be more unpredictable than singles — a well-matched pair can upset a higher-ranked team on a good day.
